FIRST QUARTER – 2025 TRACK EXPECTATIONS

Kishane Thompson will be vying for Male Athlete of the year in 2025. It will be interesting to witness his performance at World Athletics Championships in Japan September 2025. All things considered Fans expect him to be invited to Grand Slam Track (GST) in April. With respect to Training for 2025, Kishane Thompson needs to work on all Phases of his race and stop looking around for competitors during the Performance. He should adopt the Mantra – Good Morning, Good afternoon, and Good Night. Meet me at the Tape. Fans speculate that Kishane Thompson will run a time of 9.69 sec for the 100m in 2025.

Kishane Thompson and Fred Kerley will challenge each other in the 100m competitions in 2025. Kenny Bednarek “Kung Fu Kenny” and Bryan Levell will be prominent in the 200m. It remains to be seen if Letsile Tebogo will maintain form.

With the addition of Grand Slam Track, Season – 2025 is expected to be more competitive. Athletes who were not recipients of medals in 2024 are expected to atone. Kishane Thompson should be a factor in the 100m. Stars such as Julien Alfred, Nickisha Pryce, Tia Clayton, Sha’Carri Richardson, Dina Asher Smith, Elaine Thompson – Herah, Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce and Shericka Jackson are expected to have a spectacular  2025 season. Less than stellar performances will be a disappointment.

Athletes should cease negative comments regarding Grand Slam Track. Relent and move forward. Grand Slam Track (GST) will not include FIELD EVENTS. There is no need for banter.

The notion that Grand Slam Track was created to save Track and Field is false. The only Takeaway is GST will enhance the Sport. Some Athletes will experience Increase in Income. Track and Field is the oldest Sport and is not going anywhere anytime soon. Every Sport has a Track or Field component.

Track and Field was created on the premise that Humans needed Exercise. Humans had a genuine interest in Competition and interactive fun and thus provide some form of Entertainment. Every Sport was fashioned accordingly. For example Basketball was created to mimic the aforementioned reasons when outside was cold with snow or wet from rain.

Sydney McLaughlin – Levrone, is expected to be competitive in the 400m Flat but Marileidy Paulino will be a Factor and Fans anticipate Nickisha Pryce will be able to run sub 48.0 seconds for the event.

Nickisha Pryce will be favored to win most of her 400m competitions in 2025, assuming she had good Recovery after Paris – 2024. Tia Clayton should demonstrate much improvement in the 100m. Fans are unsure what to expect from Elaine Thompson – Herah, Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce and Shericka Jackson – “the Big 3” in 2025. It is possible that all three will decide to move on and live a life of Luxury. If Elaine Thompson Herah does not get her Achilles heel fixed, she will not perform at her best and will depart from the Sport

Julien Alfred (Juju) took the Paris 2024 path to becoming an Olympian. Fans did not expect her to be ready before Los Angeles 2028. With that early arrival and sacrifice behind the scene, she made St. Lucia Proud. Julien Alfred (Juju) is aware that winning can become a habit. There is nothing to fear but fear itself. If Julien looks over shoulder in 2025 and sees no Jamaican challenging, then she will have a good season. However, Fans anticipate Tia Clayton to challenge. Having said that Julien Alfred (Juju) has unfinished business in the 200m. Physically she can run the event but she has to reconcile the mental.

When the Bickering between the JAAA and JOA concludes Athletes will receive their Just rewards and resources. Inclusive in this effort should be the rebuilding of “the Big 3” – Women sprinters. It is important that we do the same for the JAAA and JOA. Something is broken let’s fix it. Independent consultation might be necessary.

Team USA is ready for every event in Season – 2025.  Even if a USA representative does not win an event, the performance will be acceptable. Moving forward the Team is very young and fans expect all members to be vying for participation in Olympics 2028 Los Angeles, California, USA.

Gabby Thomas will be challenged to find another event in which to participate. Perhaps she will try the 400mH or 400m flat in 2025. Fans are waiting to see what she chooses. As long as her choice is not the 100m or 100mH, then she will be competitive.

In Season – 2024, the Philippines team did well in gymnastics, boxing, swimming, weight lifting, and Pole vault. Fans are proud of the Kababayans. They gave a good account of themselves. Pinoys are not just competitors anymore. They intend to be a Factor and a force to reckon with. They will work on Track and Field and make their presence felt. Imagine a Kababayan running the Men’s 100m in 9.79 seconds or the Women’s 100m in 10.6X; something to ponder. EJ Obiena did not get the Gold medal in 2024 but it could happen in Los Angeles – 2028.  Fans expect improvement on 2024 performances.

Stars know that getting home for Dinner quickly is the key to securing a Gold Medal. The Tail Gate Party continues

LOOMING DISAPPOINTMENT – 2023

It appears that the rebound of Elaine Thompson Herah (ETH) might be threatened. Pre- season 2022 she opened with a 400M experiment, which in retrospect failed. Pre- season 2023 she again opened with another 400M experiment, which objectively was a failure. Unless it was a planned 300M experiment, it failed or proved nothing. Said experiment can be done in Training. Fans have no interest in seeing their Star struggle. Lactic acid will embarrass any Athlete. Our Star is not focus on her Bread and Butter events. Since the coaching staff is confused, then it is time for Sponsors to speak up. Disappointment is in the air.

If an Athlete wishes to experiment with the 400M, then do it in Training. The notion that running the 400M will prepare one for the 200M is folly, at least for ETH. No one wish for a return to her previous Track Club but Fans are encouraging current coaches to get their act together. ETH is on the cusp of a three – Peat of the double, 100 and 200M, at Olympics in 2024. By Jove, get to that point coaches. If this conduct is a strategy then Fans are now asking what exactly is the Goal. Disappointment is Looming.

Fans anticipate Signature performances in the women 100M, 200M, 400M, and 800M. Competitive Athletes are planning to surprise. They are planning to deliver exceptional performances to cap the era 2016 – 2024. Fans believe the 100M world record will be 10.47 seconds, the 200M world record will be 21.2 seconds, the 400M world record will be 47.5, and the 800M world record will be 1:52.55 by the end of Track season 2024.

Track and Field 2023 is moving forward. Track and Field is creating excitement and the World is watching. Expectations are Stars will be ready and competitors will be back rejuvenated and determined to outperform their rivals. In the midst of all this excitement and anticipation, The Olympics women 100M Record Holder is seemingly inactive. Disappointment is Looming.

2023 and 2024, will be defining years for some Track and Field stars. Careers will end or begin in these two years. Women 100M record will be 10.47 and the 200M record will be 21.2 seconds. BeyondApparent.com thinks the Olympic record holder for the 100M is most likely to accomplish that success as long as there are no hidden injuries. Fans should not be distracted by 60M Events. There is an Ocean between 60M and 100M and you had better be able to swim.

Women 400M and 800M events will be very competitive. Gabby Thomas will hunt for treasure in the 400M event. The 800M is still unsorted. With the exception of Athing Mu, there is still no indication in 2023 of anyone ready to be World Champion in the 800M event.

Jamaican Female sprinters, have unfinished business. Fans of Elaine Thompson – Herah (ETH) anticipate excellent years in 2023 and 2024. They are anxious for Signature Performances. The next two years 2023 and 2024 is Prime time to run 10.47 for the Women 100M event. If 10.47 is not attained Fans will wait decades for that opportunity. Base on 2023 performances, 10.47 in the women 100M is more likely to occur in Paris than in Budapest. That record will last forever and a Day.

Absent injuries, ETH should to be a Factor in the Women 100M and 200M events in Budapest Hungary August 19, 2023. Less than Signature Performances will be a disappointment. Elaine Thompson – Herah, has work to do but nothing to be nervous about. The Spear will be burning in Budapest and will make Jamaica proud

Athletes planning to be in the Women 100M Final in Budapest with a Personal Best (PB) slower than 10.7X should skip the event. Participating in the event with a PB south of 10.7X, will make you late for Dinner, where dinner is the Gold Medal. The Women’s 100M Final in Budapest 2023 is on Track for a Time of 10.61 or better. The Tail Gate Party continues to Olympics 2024.

TAKEAWAY NACAC Championships 2018

Shanieka Ricketts wins NACAC triple jump gold

The North American, Central American, and Caribbean Championships held in Toronto August 10 – 12, 2018 were from my observation, too small an International group of Athletes to engender significant predictions for Olympics 2020. Regardless, Team Jamaica performance is worthy of Post event commentary.

It did not appear that all Member Countries participated. There were some good performances but overall un-impressive. Top tier athletes were absent. Elaine Thompson and Omar McLeod were not present or at least I saw or heard nothing to the contrary. According to an unofficial count, 369 athletes from 31 countries participated. See the list below, which should encourage a Geography lesson.

Team Jamaica exhibited significant improvement in Field events. I am impressed with the wealth of Talent. The Team came away with 21 medals, seven gold, nine silver, and five bronze.

Shanieka Ricketts, Fedrick Dacres, Traves Smikle, Hansle Parchment, Danielle Williams, Natoya Goule, Tyquendo Tracey, Janieve Russell, Annsert Whyte, Demish Gaye, and Shericka Jackson were definite standouts.

Shanieka Ricketts has stepped up her Game. She won gold in the Triple Jump. That will encourage Male athletes to step up. Tisanna Hickling won bronze in Long Jump. Fedrick Dacres and Traves Smikle  continue to perform at a high level in Discus. O’Dayne Richards won bronze in the Shot Put. Tajay Gayle won silver in Long Jump. Ramone Bailey won bronze in Long Jump.

The Hurdles event has caught on. Performance has improved exponentially. It can only get better and competition is about to get fierce for both Men and Women. Hansle Parchment won gold in the 110M hurdles. Danielle Williams won silver in the Women’s 100 meters hurdles. Janieve Russell won silver in the 400M hurdles. Annsert Whyte won silver in the 400 M Hurdles.

Natoya Goule won silver in the Women’s 800 meters. It is refreshing to see an athlete step away and try to establish a new frontier. Natoya Goule is someone to keep an eye on moving forward. Shericka Jackson continues to shine and won gold in the 200M. She ran well as the anchor for Women’s 4 × 100 meters relay quartet. I applaud her stellar performance.

Tyquendo Tracey won gold in the 100M. Nigel Ellis won bronze in the 200 M. Jonielle Smith won silver in the 100M. Demish Gaye won gold in the 400M. Fitzroy Dunkley won bronze in the 400M. Stephenie Ann McPherson won gold in the 400M. Women’s 4 × 100 meters relay quartet (Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Jura Levy, Jonielle Smith, and Shericka Jackson) won silver. Women’s 4 × 400 meters relay quartet (Stephenie Ann McPherson, Tiffany James, Anastasia Le-Roy, and Christine Day) won silver.

There is much to take away from the performances at NACAC Championships 2018. The coach or coaches responsible for training the Women’s 4 × 400 meters relay team is doing a great job. Over the years that quartet, mix or match, has been competitive or dominant. Perhaps, they should be responsible for recruiting Male athletes to run the 400M exclusively.

Until there is discovery, nurturing, and development of at least three (3) consistent 400M sprinters, running less than 45.0, lack of significant performance in the Men’s 400M race will be obvious. Excellent performance in the 400M event will require men who can consistently run less than 45.0 and women who can consistently run less than 50.0 seconds for the event.

This is a challenge. The 400M race is the most exhausting of the sprints. Demish Gaye won gold in the 400M with a time of 45.47 and Fitzroy Dunkley won bronze in the 400M with a time of 45.76. Both times are respectable but not Olympics 2020 material.  In Olympics 2020, the 400 M races to date will be a battle between Africans, Americans, and Bahamians. There is still time to upset that plan.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is back. I was certain she would retire but I was incorrect. Obviously, she missed the stage. Her early performances look good but that amounts to burning off energy. History proves that this welcome back period is short lived. Perhaps she will make it to Olympics 2020. I can argue that she might not make Team Jamaica for Olympics 2020. Team Jamaica Track and Field landscape is poised for a changing of the Guard, if not before Olympics 2020, certainly immediately after.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has fans but I think the results of Olympics 2016 say a lot. We all hoped that she had won the Olympics 100M a third consecutive time but that did not happen. She cannot overcome that demon. Hypothetically, if she wins Olympics 100M in 2020 it will not have the same luster.

In addition, Briana Williams, Brianna Lyston, Elaine Thompson, Jonielle Smith, and others will have much to say about her success. Most athletes wait too late to retire. Most recent the Legend Usain Bolt. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce because of her competitive spirit will do the same. Until then we will support her 100 Percent.
